Manager David Flitcroft has said we really didn’t deserve to win the game against Fleetwood Town based on our first half performance, although he was obviously delighted to see us fight back from behind twice to take a point in the game.

Speaking to the press following the match with a brace from Danny Nardiello hopefully being a sign of more consistency to come, the gaffer had to admit that a point was probably fair as we were simply inept in the first 45 minute period.

‘I don’t think we deserved the win based on the first half showing because we were inept. I’m disappointed with the performance, it was, at times, static football and I want fluidity in the play but we didn’t have that.’

As for the second half performance it was definitely much improved and Flitcroft was obviously pleased with that because in his mind we really did take the game to them and we dominated, and had we done that for 90 minutes he feels we’d have been worthy of the win.

With that disappointment though he knows it can be somewhat tempered because he hasn’t lost sight of where we are at the moment, and the fact we are still very much early doors on what he is trying to achieve with us – and although Fleetwood have stuttered of late, they are in with a shout of automatic promotion so a point on the face of it is not a result to be ashamed of, especially with how the game played out.

Now if we can master the second half performance and do that both sides of half time, results should start flowing in our favour.
