Bury have announced Village Hotels as our new main shirt and club sponsors for the coming season.

They have a long history of involvement with football league sides as their hotels and fitness clubs have been regularly used by clubs in all divisions and they have already been involved with Bury for a number of years, hosting events and being a base camp for facility use by players.

This is however the first time they have physically sponsored a side and appeared on their shirts.

Village CEO Gary Davis was quoted by the Official Site as saying about the deal.

‘It’s great to be in partnership with Bury FC on all levels, with players and fans alike. We look forward to a great future in our partnership with Bury FC both on and off the field.’

Daniel Bowerbank, Commercial Account Manager, said of the deal.

‘It is great that we can announce our main sponsors for the new season as the Village Hotels. Following discussions with Village Hotels this deal not only reflects the ambition of the club with being the largest shirt sponsorship in the Club`s history but is also another local business in which have joined Bury Football Club in Partnership. Over the years we have had a great relationship with the local hotel only based a stone`s throw away from the ground and we look forward to progressing this following this exclusive deal. Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with the Village Hotels.’

Following on from this announcement, the club also released a further statement concerning JD Sports Fashion Plc and their sponsorship of us.

The statement explained that both parties have mutually agreed to terminate their long term relationship and as part of this termination both shirt and stadium naming rights are now open, and those agreements finish earlier than originally intended.

As part of that though, the Village Hotels sponsorship is now our biggest ever revenue shirt sponsorship deal.

We have also now opened negotiations with parties interested in stadium sponsorship which is also expected to see a revenue return uplift on the JD agreement.

Bury and JD have however struck agreement on a mutually beneficial relationship going forwards.

Chief executive Glenn Thomas added.

‘The naming rights deal with JD Sports, together with the shirt sponsorship was absolutely ground breaking and of fundamental importance both in terms of revenue for the Club and because it greatly enhanced our commercial reputation in the football marketplace. I would like to thank Peter Cowgill and JD Sports for their previous sponsorship and for their future commitment to continuing a long and successful relationship with Bury FC.’
