Bury’s League 1 season continued with a draw against Crewe at Gigg Lane on Tuesday.

A chance to close the gap on the play-offs was taken, to a degree, with Bury collecting a point from a draw with Crewe but more than a nil-nil draw would have been hoped from the relegation threatened side. Bury are up to 12th and now six-points off the play-offs but it could, perhaps should, have been four with a win.

These were the other results.

Tuesday 26th January 2016
Blackpool 0-0 Sheff Utd
Bradford 0-1 Barnsley
Bury 0-0 Crewe
Doncaster 1-2 Port Vale
Fleetwood P-P Walsall
Peterborough 0-1 Burton
Shrewsbury 0-1 Oldham

It wasn’t a full schedule, with these rearranged games (Fleetwood v Walsall was called-off again), and not too many goals were scored either but looking at these results the stand out ones have to be the wins for Barnsley (1-0), Burton (1-0) and Oldham (1-0) over Bradford, Peterborough and Oldham respectively.

The fine run of form Barnsley have found of late saw them claim the bragging right, more importantly, the points from a one-nil win at Yorkshire rivals Bradford to move further away from the relegation zone and towards a seemingly unlikely (and still doubtful) play-off place! This is what the Bantams want but that took a blow.

Burton got the reaction they wanted to a defeat in the game before with an important one-nil win at promotion rivals Peterborough, who saw their own promotion bid take a knock.

Oldham, like Shrewsbury, are looking to merely stay in League 1 with those chances given a boost as far as the Latics are concerned with a one-nil win at Greenhous Meadow. The Shrews remain outside the bottom four, with Oldham still in it, but the chance to open some daylight was missed.

Who was the Bury MotM in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking so do cast a vote.
