Both in terms of the result, obviously, and the performance as we secured another home win.

Bury collected a three-one win over Peterborough in League 1 on Tuesday. Shakers boss David Flitcroft shares his views on this win and the three-points it brought.

The disappointment of a heavy three-nil defeat to Wigan was moved on from with this win over a Peterborough side that’s now lost five-matches on the spin with first half goals from Leon Clarke and Ryan Lowe having us in control.

This was a half where the boss felt, as he told BBC Radio Manchester, we ‘tore them to shreds’ with it exactly what he wants from Bury.

‘It was a positive result and a positive performance. Another win at home. In the first half we tore them to shreds in every way. Every time we attacked them we looked threatening. Some of what we’ve missed at times was totally on display tonight.’

Marcus Maddison might have given Peterborough second half hope but after Ricardo Santos was sent off for Posh Andrew Tutte made sure of the win late on to send those (home fans anyway) leaving Gigg Lane happy.

Flitcroft finished by saying with something of a ‘makeshift team’ put out he was especially pleased with what he saw him keen on whoever plays making sure they ‘step up’ with us carrying this forward.

‘It was a real makeshift team, and that’s what pleased me more than anything. It was about the lads that keep stepping up.’
