Manager David Flitcroft has said that although it’s disappointing to not see Bury’s hosting of Leicester City selected for television, he’s called on the whole town to embrace the tie.

With it known that Leicester make the trip to Gigg Lane on Tuesday August 25, Flitcroft was quoted by the Bury Times as saying about the challenging encounter.

‘It does sound nice, a Premier League team here. I`m hoping it`s going to be rocking, I really am. You have got the Ranieri effect, pitting our wits against someone who is as highly respected and regarded in the game. So it`s a good boost to the football club, without a shadow of a doubt and we are looking forward to that.’

Having secured the first round win over Wigan, Flicker admitted he was hopeful that a Premier League draw would see the cameras arrive with the financial boost that would give the club – especially with the transfer window still open – but unfortunately that wasn’t to be so instead he’s hoping for a bumper gate to swell his coffers.

‘We were hoping to attract one of the Premier League boys to maybe get a Sky game, again to showcase where we are trying to go. But let`s embrace the game against Leicester, which is a good game for us all to look forward to and one I know we can be competitive in.’
