Manager David Flitcroft has been delighted with how Bury have started this week following our victories over Carlisle and Stevenage.

With a three nil win secured over Carlisle with goals from Rose, Jones and Lowe, a clean sheet and even playing our part in the opposition failing to have a shot on target, the gaffer was clearly happy as he spoke to the press.

‘It could have been five or six. With the intent we attacked them with we looked like scoring from a number of opportunities and we were a threat going forward.’

With Carlisle not getting a shot on target, the gaffer went on to say that limiting them to only three attempts full stop was extremely pleasing for him because it shows how solid a performance we put in.

‘There was a real shape, a quality performance of high speed, high tempo and precision. I would not have been embarrassed if it was five or six. In the second half we had too much running power for them and our bench looked strong and I was able to take the game to Carlisle.’

Going on to say that for everyone it was a brave performance in his eyes, he says Jones could well have had a hattrick had he made more of the chances that fell his way, but all season long he’s been more pleased than not because he knows we still have a long way to go yet we are really starting to put in some regular and consistent dominating performances.

With Stevenage up last night, a two one victory with Bury having to come behind was in order, and again it was another showing that pleased the gaffer because this time it was about responding to a knock and maintaining our belief.

‘Last Saturday was outstanding, but this topped that. A Graham Westley teams tries to dominate you and bully you but they couldn’t get near us. We ran round them and over them and we passed through them. Our precision and work rate was outstanding. It was pure dominance in every aspect of our play.’

Despite them taking the early lead Flitcroft says we forced them into an early change and we forced them to abandon their Plan A but he doesn’t care what other teams do when they try and match us because he knows on song, very few will match us easily if at all.
