Manager David Flitcroft was delighted to see us pick up our first home win of the season against Plymouth and he feels we were definitely worthy of all three points.

Speaking to the press following the two one victory that saw us take a first half two goal lead through Tom Soares and another strike from Danny Rose, the gaffer explained his delight at our showing.

‘The first half was complete and total domination in every aspect. We dictated play, controlled the tempo, and when we sped the play up in the last third the quality was incredible so I’m delight with the two goals.’

Flitcroft goes on to say that really we should’ve scored more and the game as any kind of contest should’ve been over by the half time break, so them getting a goal back was disappointing and even though we didn’t quite reach the same levels in the second half, we more than deserved the win based on the opening 45 minutes.

‘League Two’s like that, you’re not going to have it all your own way for 95 minutes. Had we made it three nil there would have been no comeback, so it’s that cutting edge I’m after, which we’re working hard to achieve – we’re still a work in progress.’

Crediting the team for really digging in during the final 15 minutes as well, he said the players embraced that particular challenge and stood up to it so there’s very little he can be critical of in the display because we ultimately did what we wanted to – got the win and all three points.
